My
dad's very first car was a 1941 Ford Coupe, so when he found this car for
sale in 1989 he just had to have it! It had been sitting for about 15
years at that time, and has been resting comfortably since he bought it,
awaiting a restoration. I'm thinkin '50's Land Speedster, XF-VGC
class. Or XO-VGC if I can find a '50's 302 GMC straight six to drop in it!
Okay.
So it's not much of a toy now. But she's got lots of potential!
After dismantling the old flathead, though not original to this car, I found
the block to be no good. We were told at the time of purchase that
there had been water in the oil when the car was parked in the early '70's,
so it was not much of a surprise.
Some obvious period
correct mods include triple carbs (2-Ford and 1-Stromberg), Edelbrock
aluminum intake and heads, and Fenton headers.
I also have a
freshly rebuilt flathead that's ready for action!
